I see a resemblence between you and Amy, Kathy. Don't you love looking at these old photos. Nobody ever smiles, have you noticed that? Everybody always looks sooooo serious!
Wow kathy, you are so lucky. I am a keen family historian and used to help Olive as we both looked for "O's". Ort and Osmond...LOL
She showed me how to do a circular chart which I love. hers of course was huge. She had it at Hyde park when they were there.
Anyway I digress. Those pictures are wonderful.
We have almost no family photos.
They are so good, so clear. I guess they have been restored. They have been done really well.
How great for you and your kids to have..
Pen
I would love to trace my roots, but I wouldn't know where to begin.
Yes i remember those charts of Olives at hyde park. I have never made it back to hyde park vistitors center since i moved out here in 1986. Need to do that next time im over there.
How wonderful to have not only the history and information but the pictures also. What stories they could tell and how different the world is today.
Wow! Used to have a customer at the Bank where I worked that was into family history, like you are. It was always fun to hear him telling of what new information he had found the previous week. Must be fun to really enjoy doing that. As much as I admire someone who can get into that all, I myself have never been that interested in it. That sounds horrible, I have such a terrible time remembering my great grandparents and all, my husband would probably be the one to get involved with it. He used to sit down and tell me my family tree after spending some time with my relatives. I do however have pictures and I love having those, most of them are labeled too. I guess I'm more visual. Sounds like you ar having a great time with this Kathy!!
This is so neat, I hope you don't mind if I copy all of your pictures!
How wonderful for you and your family to have these photos! I'm a genealogist and live for ancestry.com and familysearch. HAPPY HUNTING to all!!! Very happy for you and your family Kathy! *_*
Great photos!! Such strong looking women! Denise, the reason no one smiles is they had to hold that pose for 3-5 min sometimes for the film to expose. A smile would hurt after awhile.
Kathy, I'm so excited for you! I recently found a relative also on Ancestry.com & he has over 2000 pix! He's gone way back on my dad's side. I wish I had time to do more but only being a hobby for me right now I can only do a little at a time. I retire in 2015 so that's on my list of hobbies to take up seriously. Thanks for sharing!!
Oh, I went on our local genealogy library website here in Indep, MO & they had how-to videos on how to start genealogy & ideas on how to sort & store all your research.
They said since flash drives are inexpensive now to put each family on different ones for travel purposes then you don't have to rifle thru paperwork to take with you. But always make paper copies kept in a safe place as technology bugs happen & would be a shame to lose all you've done.
Also said to write down where you've searched so you don't continue searching the same site over & over.
Happy hunting everyone!
Wow, do you look like your GG White!
Kathy....WOO HOO!! I always love new finds, whether they are mine or someone elses!!
